Over the last 11 years while Fountain View was open, the minerals in the water of both pools have slightly damaged the plaster shell inside the pools. Damage comes in various shapes and sizes but the most common forms of damage are stains, discoloration and minor cracks/voids in the plaster. This damage is considered “normal,” however, if the plaster isn’t replaced larger issues could occur causing the pool to be shut down for longer durations of time with emergency repairs costing the Park District additional funds and time. By re-plastering the pool at this time we are improving the visual appeal of the pool shell, reducing maintenance costs, increasing the pools strength and durability and prolonging the pool itself so we limit the amount of time shut down for our members.
