April E-News – READ

Spring has arrived in Carol Stream, and it’s time to get outside and enjoy all that the Park District has to offer. Opening Day for our Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues is April 18 at McCaslin Park Sports Complex, and the excitement is building for another great season. We also completed controlled burns in several parks this past week in partnership with Bedrock Earthscapes, helping to support the health of our natural areas.

This month’s E-News honors longtime volunteer and former Board member Steve Ravanesi, who has contributed to the community as a soccer coach, co-founder of the Carol Stream Parks Foundation Bike Club, and partner on many park projects over the years. We also highlight a dedicated youth basketball coach in our new Volunteer Spotlight feature and recognize the 2024 Citizen of the Year nominees for their outstanding contributions to the community.

Fountain View Recreation Center members now have improved access to the building as soon as it opens through the ADA door, which will automatically unlock early each day. Community support continues through our partnership with the Carol Stream Rotary Club for a food drive running through April 12, and through the Park District’s ongoing Community Wide Food Drive collection in coordination with the County.

Be sure to check out our latest program guides and updates, and mark your calendar for upcoming seasonal fun, including the opening day of Coyote Crossing Mini Golf on May 3, the Community Park Summer Kickoff on May 8, and the Putt & Pour fundraiser on June 4.
