4/17/2020 – Response to Email Inquiries
The Carol Stream Park District has received many comments and inquiries to the info@csparks.org mailbox, and we thank you. It helps us to know what is on our residents’ minds, what is important to you at this time.
The COVID-19 crisis we are currently living through has produced so many questions and “what-if’s” about park district programs, facilities, parks, events, camps, sports leagues, etc. We honestly want to answer all your questions, and we hope to do so in due time. We are closely monitoring the day-to-day news and Illinois government briefings; but right now, we do not have answers. Our decisions will be based on questions like:
The answers to these questions alone will have a profound effect on when and how we reopen our facilities, how we run our programs and operations, and how we implement safety measures moving forward. Until we have a better understanding of these answers (which could still evolve and change), the more confident we can be in our answers to you. We ask for your patience and understanding as we all manage through this predicament together.
In the meantime, our recreation staff has been posting an “Activity of the Day” on Facebook to keep you and your families engaged and to let you know that we are thinking about you. We’ve created an Activities page on the website that has up-to-date information about parks, and things to do, both indoors and outdoors. The page includes some interesting resources to educate and keep you “in the know”.
Currently, trails remain open while it is safe to do so. Walkers, joggers, cyclists – everyone should practice social distancing even outdoors. The Activities web page provides a statement and link to the National Recreation and Park Association about how to practice social distancing while outdoors.
The Carol Stream Park District is tentatively set to open on May 11. Programs that have previously been canceled will remain so. We will confirm this date when we are certain, based on State and Federal directives. Until then, as answers to inquiries and information become available, we will keep you informed via communication through emails and our website.
Thank you. Stay Safe!
